/ Participants

This competition is open to all architects, engineers, ecologists, urban planners, designers, and particularly students involved in those expertise around the world; competitors could subscribe individually or as a team of maximum of 5 people.

/ Topics

The proposals can be for real or speculative projects, at one or more actual sites. Projects can be located either in Taiwan or abroad, but should be applicable to Taiwan and address the following topics:
  • Can coastal community restore its social infrastructure through public space?
  • Can the community change its design to accept storm surge without losing character?
  • Can coastal ecosystems be enhanced to prevent flooding?
  • Can vital coastal resources be protected against the unforeseen?
  • Can storm proofing be seen as an opportunity to rethink the future of the community?

/ Requirements
  • Format: each proposal should include two 594 mm by 841 mm color boards (A1 paper size) in horizontal format presented as a single digital file in PDF format, not bigger than 15MB each;
  • Content: these boards must include site plan, building floor plans, sections, elevations, construction details, and before and after photos (perspective) and/or rendering;
  • Annotations: adequate annotations to guide viewers through the visualization; 
  • Abstract: an abstract statement of no more than 150 words.
  • Submission: the proposal or its link in e.g. Google Drive, should be sent to crtadp@dep.pccu.edu.tw before June 15, 2014.

/ Notes
  • No identifying information should be included, as proposals will be presented and judged anonymously; the presence of identifying information will be grounds for automatic disqualification.
  • Upon receiving registration applications, we will issue each registrant a registration number. To identify submissions, each applicant will receive a registration number that must appear on the upper right corner of each board. The files must be named after the registration number. For example: 2014-0001.pdf.
  • This is an open international competition to generate progressive contemporary design ideas; there are no plans for the adaptive building for future climate to be built.
